Class Portraits (Cont.)


Tim- 


Malia- I took five photos of Malia. For each photo, I changed the exposure and moved the camera a little to get different angles of her face. I compiled the photos, put them in back and white, and used the burn tool to darken some parts of the photo. 


Owen- I captured a photo of the texture of Owens' face. I used black and white to focus on and accentuate this texture.  


Stefan- Stephan did light painting with Danny and Pablo (photographed last week) and I used the same techniques: long exposure, dark room, AV setting. The light is from the flashlight of his cellphone.


Hayden- I took two photos for Hayden's portrait. The first, a photo of his face and the second, foliage in the courtyard. I put the photo of Hayden in black and white, and the grass as a layer over it. I used the erase tool to make it in the shape of his body.


Jack- For this photo of jack, I made sure to focus on buildings as he did in his series. I used a multitude of filters to achieve this natural, aged look.

Class Portraits Ozzie- Ozzie's location and editing process are what defined his project. This is a photo of him in a long ominous hallway, where the light from the window reveals his silhouette. This effect is amplified with the black and white filter, which he also uses. Ozzie uses the mirror effect to bring you to a "different dimension." I also make use of this effect. Danny- Danny was a part of a light painting team. In order to make this photo, I had to change the settings in the camera to a longer exposure and to darken the exposure. We had to find a dark, empty room. Danny did a lot of the painting and that is shown in his skills in drawing the "D!"  Pablo- Pablo was part of a light painting team. I used the same camera settings as I did with Danny. I had Pablo light up his face to make it visible in the dark. Pablo did more of the photo taking over the light painting, so I thought that highlighting his face in the way was appropri...

Winter 4

For this draft of my greater winter series, I wanted to do two things: use different subjects (than my usual subject, Ben) and to play with color and how it affects the piece as a whole. I took this photo of Owen, Tim, and Jack on the northwest corner of California and Brodrick. My goal was to make them pop from the lighter background of the buildings while keeping the aesthetic of the previous drafts. I worked more with the shapes of the original photograph but highlighting the windows and the buildings.
